Live blog. Fighting In Karabakh

Heavy fighting broke up in and around Nagorno-Karabakh on Saturday and has continued ever since. “Fierce” clashes were reported in the northeast of Karabakh and the southernmost section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani “line of contact,” with both sides reporting losses.

-It is regrettable that the weight of human casualties for Turkey is measured by national identity.

With such racist statements Turkey encourages the continuation of actions by the aggressor against the self-determined Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

And this fits into the logic of policy implemented by the current leadership of Turkey, the result of which is to spread the wave of instability, terrorism and bloodshed both within Turkey and beyond its borders.

Azerbaijan claims to have ceased fire one-sidedly, RIA Novosti reports quoting Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry.

Davit Babayan, a senior official in Stepanakert, told RFE/RL's Armenian service that fighting continues.

The Armenian side has destroyed 3 tanks today as well as an armourded vehicle and other armoured equiopment, the Karabakh Defense Army spokesperson Senor Hasratian tells RFE/RL.

According to Hasratian, the total number of Azerbaijani tanks destroyed by now is 14.

Hasratian also said that the adversary has destroyed 1 Armenian tank.

Information about the number of losses on the Armenian side is still being varified.

According to Karabakh Defense Ministry statement, fighting has resumed since 6:00 in the morning of April 3rd, Azerbaijani forces have continued rocket fire and used armoured vehicles to continue active military actions.

BERLIN, 2 April - OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is actively involved in the efforts to de-escalate the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He is extremely concerned about the situation, as the ceasefire violations seem to have reached a new quality compared to previous years.

The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Armenia, Edward Nalbandjan and will also speak to the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov.

Steinmeier is calling on the sides to cease hostilities immediately.
