Armenia is to offer a staggering $700,000 to gold medal winners at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
"We hope that this special bonus from the National Olympic Committee will enhance their performance there," Armenia Olympic supremo Gagik Tsarukian said Friday.
Armenia won a gold medal in their first Olympics in Atlanta in 1996 but four years earlier three Armenians won gold as members of the Commonwealth of Independent States team representing former Soviet republics.
But just one bronze came in Sydney in 2000 and Armenia failed to win a medal at last year's Athens Games.
