According to a press release from the Armenian prime minister’s office, Macron thanked Pashinian for accepting the invitation to attend the first International Space Summit, hosted by the French capital on September 9-10, and stressed the importance of “continuing to develop bilateral relations in all areas in line with the two countries’ declaration on strategic cooperation.”
Pashinian, in turn, thanked Macron for the invitation and warm hospitality, stressing the importance of deepening cooperation with France in the space sector. He said Armenia was interested in developing a more substantive partnership in that area.
The two leaders emphasized that economic cooperation is one of the priority areas of the strategic partnership between Armenia and France. In that context, they highlighted the Armenian government’s “consistent efforts to diversify the economy.”
“It was noted with satisfaction that work on the construction of the Bargushat tunnel has entered a substantive phase. The importance of launching construction work as soon as possible was stressed in this regard,” the press release said, referring to a strategic piece of infrastructure in southern Armenia to be built by a consortium of two French companies.
Pashinian and Macron also reportedly discussed regional developments and emphasized the importance of “consistently implementing steps aimed at strengthening peace.”
