RFE/RL's Armenian service (Azatutyun.am) has been recognized as the winner of the "Best Of RFE/RL April 2013" Contest in innovation category for its multimedia coverage of the Armenian Genocide Rememberence Day coverage.
RFE/RL took a further step in implementing its video strategy in April.
A long time ago we were all happy just to have videos on the sites, than we moved toward round-tables, the next step was to have live video streams. After that we had live coverage from the studio and from the streets - going live from two locations.
The next step was airing Facebook and other shows as live video streams.
Internet TV was the next step and, finally, we now have a program that connected the Prague studio, the Yerevan bureau studio, and live vox pops from the streets of Yerevan.
It was a great example of team work and superb coordination between various services: the Armenian Service worked closely not only with the Multimedia Unit, but also with the Georgian, Ukrainian and Russian Services.
The well-coordinated efforts were supported by the use of different new technologies like Tricaster- virtual studio and LiveU.
The award goes to – the Armenian Service.
