President Serzh Sarkisian telephoned Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Wednesday to again congratulate him on his victory in Russia’s disputed presidential election.

“The president of Armenia once again congratulated Vladimir Putin and wished him success in the high and responsible post of president of the Russian Federation,” Sarkisian’s press office said in a statement.

“The Armenian and Russian presidents expressed readiness to continue joint efforts to develop and strengthen the Russian-Armenian strategic partnership based on centuries-old friendship between the two brotherly peoples,” added the short the statement.

The Russian government confirmed on its website that Putin received congratulations from the Armenian leader by phone. It gave no other details of the conversation.

Sarkisian and Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisian already sent written congratulatory messages to the Russian president-elect on Monday.
