Prince Charles familiarized himself with some of the unique exhibits at Matenadaran as he visited the famous museum in Yerevan on May 28 at the beginning of his three-day private trip to Armenia. At the depository holding more than 17,000 ancient manuscripts and more than 100,000 other ancient archival documents in a variety of languages the eldest son and heir apparent of Britain’s monarch also received a valuable gift – a silver-covered modern edition of the Book of Lamentation, a mystical poem by prominent 10th-century Armenian philosopher and theologian Gregory of Narek – along with other keepsakes from Matenadaran.
