Armenian opposition leader Raffi Hovannisian took what he described as an oath of ‘New Armenia’ on Tuesday before thousands of his supporters in a downtown Yerevan square attending an ‘alternative’ inauguration and repeating the oath after him. Hovannisian claims victory in the February 18 presidential election and does not recognize the legitimacy of Serzh Sarkisian, who was sworn in for a second five-year term as president of Armenia at a solemn ceremony earlier on April 9.
