Hovannisian Rejects Sarkisian’s ‘False’ Oath

Opposition leader Raffi Hovannisian has refused to recognize the legitimacy of President Serzh Sarkisian, who took an oath for another five-year term in a solemn inauguration on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sarkisian’s top challenger held an ‘alternative’ inauguration of what he called a ‘new Armenia’ in Yerevan’s Liberty Square later that day. In an interview with RFE/RL Armenian Service Director Harry Tamrazian Hovannisian said: “The Armenian people have said today, ‘This is my country, this is my constitution...’".
