Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian on Monday signed a decree relieving Yervand Zakharian from his duties as minister of energy and natural resources.
By another decree published by his press office the head of state appointed Levon Yolian as his successor.
Prior to his new appointment Yolian served as deputy chairman of the Audit Chamber.
No reasons for the replacement of Zakharian, who served in the post since April 2014, were immediately provided, but media had long speculated about his imminent resignation.
The latest change in the government staff comes days after the Sarkisian-led ruling Republican Party of Armenia signed a power-sharing agreement with the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, giving the latter three ministerial portfolios and two gubernatorial positions as part of the deal.
