Frightened Armenian Villagers Stay Outdoors After Earthquake

Residents of Varhavar, a village in Armenia’s southeastern Syunik province, have been afraid to stay indoors ever since a powerful earthquake struck neighboring Iran last Saturday killing more than 300 people there. That earthquake and its aftershocks were felt in much of Armenia and especially in areas close to the border with Iran. The tremors damaged houses in several provincial towns and villages adjacent to the Arax river marking the border.
