UNITED NATIONS -- Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has accused Armenia of “flagrant” violations of the UN Charter and disregard for the Security Council resolutions.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Mammadyarov said that as a result of Armenia’s “aggression” in Nagorno-Karabakh almost 20 percent of the Azerbaijan territory continues to be under occupation.
“For almost two decades we have been facing the flagrant violation of the UN Charter and other documents of international law by the Republic of Armenia, which perpetrated aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” Mammadyarov said.
There are four Security Council resolutions since 1993 over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Armenia and Azerbaijan regularly trade accusations at the UN.
