ARARAT, Armenia (AP) - The Armenian city of Ararat unveiled an obelisk Tuesday commemorating the victims of the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington.
"To break the unbending will of the American people is impossible," Ararat regional chief Alik Sarkisian said at the ceremony.
He was joined by U.S. Ambassador John Ordway, who thanked residents of Ararat, on the Turkish border, for the gesture of sympathy.
The obelisk was erected next to a memorial park dedicated to Armenians who perished under the Ottomans.
